China Pharmaceutical University is a university directly under the central government and the Ministry of Education. It is a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university with a long history, distinctive features, excellent study style and high reputation in the field of pharmacy. It is one of the 29 "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" universities in China, building a first-class discipline group of pharmacy, and one of the first universities in China with the right to award doctoral and master's degrees.

It is the only affiliated professional pharmaceutical college in China and the largest [1] professional pharmaceutical university in the world. It has always been called "the Tsinghua of medicine" by people in the industry. The school has the "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform", that is, the innovation platform of new drug discovery theory and technology advantage discipline.

At present, there are only two pharmaceutical colleges in China. China Pharmaceutical University and Shenyang Pharmaceutical University. Because they are in Nanjing and Shenyang respectively, they are called Nanyao and Beiyao respectively. The latter will soon be merged into Northeastern University. So Nanjing Pharmaceutical University is China Pharmaceutical University. China Pharmaceutical University was Nanjing Pharmaceutical College in 1980s.

By March 2023, the school has two campuses, Xuanwu Gate and Jiangning, covering an area of 2 100 mu and a construction area of 690,000 square meters. There are 16 departments and 3 1 undergraduate majors. On-the-job staff 1868, including full-time teachers 1 128 and full-time students 19440, including undergraduates1/262, postgraduates 7688 and international students 490.
