Project 985 (English: Project 985), commonly known as "985 University", refers to the educational plan implemented by the people of China and the Ministry of Education to build a number of world-class universities and a number of world-famous high-level research universities. The name comes from Jiang Zemin's idea at the centenary celebration of Peking University in May 1998, and so far it includes 39 top universities.

2 1 1 Project (English: Project 2 1 1), commonly known as "2 1 1 College", refers to a project planned and implemented by the people of China and the government of China for the development of higher education in China since the 1960s. "2 1 1" means "the construction project of about 100 colleges and universities and a number of key disciplines facing 2 1 century".
