The Outline of Northeastern University and the Draft Articles of Association drafted during the preparation of Northeastern University both made it clear that the subordinate departments of Northeastern University had "department of mechanical engineering", 1925 officially recruited department of mechanical engineering undergraduates, and 1935 closed department of mechanical engineering.

The School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Northeastern University (1993) established the School of Mechanical Engineering on the basis of the First and Second Department of Machinery and the Machinery Factory (1996 Autumn Machinery Factory was separated from the College and belonged to Dongda Drying Equipment Co., Ltd.); 1997 10 was renamed as College of Mechanical Engineering and Automation.
