Concept map is a graphic method which uses nodes to represent concepts and lines to represent the relationship between concepts. It is a visual teaching tool and thinking tool put forward by Professor Novak of Cornell University in the 1960s according to Ausubel's learning theory.
As can be seen from this picture, the concept map has three basic characteristics.
First, the structural characteristics of the layer. This layer reveals the depth of knowledge and profound thinking.
Second, cross-structural characteristics. This layer embodies the connection of horizontal knowledge and reveals the breadth and relevance of knowledge.
Thirdly, schema features. At this level, schema forms present knowledge, reduce the cognitive load of language channels, optimize the cognitive process and promote the development of intuitive thinking.
Teachers must learn to use concept maps when making PPT or preparing lessons, which is beneficial for teachers to organize information, make multimedia courseware and make lesson plans.
For students, concept map is convenient for developing thinking ability, constructing knowledge structure and improving learning efficiency.
It is also good for brainstorming, communication and so on.
