The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Fudan University (Shanghai Red House Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital) is one of the oldest maternity hospitals in China. 1884, with the support of Margaret Williamson, an American, two medical missionaries, Elizabeth Rofsschneider and Elizabeth McKechnie, founded Shanghai Ximen Women and Children Hospital outside the west gate of Pujiang. This is the predecessor of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Fudan University. Because the roof was red when it was built, people affectionately called this hospital "Red House Hospital".
