Xihua university is a provincial-level key comprehensive university which was approved by the Ministry of Education on April 16, 2003 and merged from the former Sichuan University of Technology and the former chengdu normal university. On September 25th, 2008, Sichuan Economic Management Cadre College was merged into xihua university with the approval of Sichuan provincial government and the record of Ministry of Education. Sichuan Agricultural Machinery College, the predecessor of Sichuan University of Technology, was founded in 1960. It is one of the comprehensive agricultural machinery colleges established by the state to realize agricultural mechanization in seven regions of China. 1978 was listed as a provincial key engineering university by the Sichuan provincial government, and 1983 was renamed as Sichuan University of Technology.
