CET-8 for English majors is called CET-8 for English majors in colleges and universities in China. From 199 1, the Ministry of People's and Education of China began to examine English majors in national comprehensive universities. The TEM-8 examination for English majors is sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee for Foreign Language Majors in colleges and universities. It is held once a year in March and the test is conducted in the morning. Problems include listening, reading, error correction, translation and writing.
The content of the exam covers all aspects of English listening, reading, writing and translation. In 2005, humanities knowledge, written examination and oral examination were added. After passing the examination, the CET-8 oral and interpretation certificate for English majors will be awarded. However, the oral examination is not well-known and the number of participants is not large. Many English majors don't know that there is a TEM-8 oral test.
The time is at the beginning of March every year, and the target is senior students majoring in English and related majors. Non-English and related majors and students who are not in school cannot take the exam. Those who pass the examination will be awarded transcripts by the Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee of colleges and universities. The score is divided into three grades, 60 to 69 is qualified, 70 to 79 is good, and 80 or more is excellent. Certificates issued after passing the examination are valid for life.
Second, the examination requirements:
The purpose of the examination is to check the implementation of the syllabus, especially the comprehensive language skills and communicative competence required by the TEM-8 syllabus, and to promote the further implementation of the syllabus. In order to better evaluate students' ability to use various basic skills, it not only takes into account the scientific objectivity and the characteristics of the advanced English proficiency test, but also combines the test with the comprehensive skills test.
Examination is a reference level examination to test candidates' individual and comprehensive language ability. The scope of the examination includes the four skills stipulated in the syllabus: listening, reading, writing and translation. Due to the lack of conditions for large-scale oral examination, oral skills are suspended.
