Hubei University, referred to as "Huda", is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. It is a provincial key comprehensive university jointly established by Hubei Provincial People's Government and Ministry of Education. It ranks among the "double-first-class" universities in Hubei Province, and has been selected into the national "Basic Capacity Building Project of Universities in the Midwest", "11plan" and Hubei Province.

193 1 The school was formerly known as Hubei Education College, and has since passed through National Hubei Normal College, Hubei Education College, Hubei Normal College, Wuhan Normal College and Wuhan Normal College. In August, 1984 was renamed as Hubei University.

As of April 2023, the school has Wuchang main campus, Hankou campus and Yangluo campus, covering an area of 1.500 mu. There are 24 subject colleges and 87 undergraduate majors.
