The School of Communications of Inner Mongolia University was established in 1956, which is the Hohhot Communications School of the Ministry of Communications. It is the first engineering school founded by the national strategic layout from the frontier and ethnic minority areas. In 2000 1996, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as the second batch of higher vocational education schools. In 2000, it was merged into Inner Mongolia University to form the Vocational and Technical College of Inner Mongolia University. In 2008, the Department of Inner Mongolia University merged with the School of Transportation Science and Technology to form the School of Transportation. In 2009, it was upgraded to the Vocational and Technical College of Inner Mongolia University with the quasi-first-class system. In terms of training transportation talents, it serves the important and special geographical position in ethnic areas and the economic construction of the autonomous region.
The college has six disciplines: road engineering, bridge engineering, automobile engineering, traffic engineering, mechanical engineering and project management. There are four undergraduate majors in civil engineering, transportation, mechanical engineering, automation and automobile service engineering, and 1 1 higher vocational majors. The major is also called Transportation Vocational and Technical College of Inner Mongolia University.
