Approved by the Ministry of Education, the Three Gorges University was formed on June 29th, 2000 by the merger of the former Wuhan Institute of Water Resources and Electric Power (Yichang) and the former Hubei Three Gorges University. The former Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power (Yichang), formerly known as Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College, was founded in 1978, and successively belonged to the Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and the State Power Company.
1996 merged with the former Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power to form a new Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, which became an important part of the "21/project" to build a university. Training objectives: This major aims to train students who can engage in system operation, automatic control and power electronics technology related to electrical engineering. Wide-caliber "compound" senior engineering and technical personnel working in the fields of information processing, experimental analysis, research and development, economic management and computer technology application.
Geographical location of Three Gorges University:
The Three Gorges University is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, a world hydropower capital, a famous tourist city in China and the seat of the Three Gorges Project. Approved by the Ministry of Education on June 29th, 2000, it is a local comprehensive university formed by the merger of the former Wuhan Institute of Water Resources and Electric Power (Yichang) and the former Hubei Three Gorges College.
The former Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power (Yichang), formerly known as Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College, was established in 1978, directly under the management of the Ministry of Hydraulic and Electric Power, and merged with Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power in 1996 to form a new Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power. The former Hubei Three Gorges College was formed by the merger of Yichang Normal College, Yichang Medical College and Yichang Vocational College on 1996.
