The PLA Army Engineering University was reorganized and established on 20 17 on the basis of China PLA University of Science and Technology, Ordnance Engineering College, Chongqing Communication College, Engineering College and Wuhan Ordnance NCO School. It is a comprehensive engineering university that pays equal attention to personnel training and scientific research, and integrates engineering technology and operational command.

Headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, it is located on the bank of the Yangtze River. There are five colleges: Communication Engineering College, Field Engineering College, Command and Control Engineering College, National Defense Engineering College and Graduate School. There are also Shijiazhuang Campus (Shijiazhuang, Hebei), Communication NCO School (Chongqing), Ordnance NCO School (Wuhan, Hubei) and Training Base (Xuzhou, Jiangsu).
