The School of Foreign Languages of Northeast Normal University is developed from the Russian Art Department of Northeastern University Literature Department. Russian liberal arts was founded in 1948, with students mainly from Jiamusi University, Changchun University and Changbai Normal University majoring in Russian. At the beginning of the school, the school appointed Professor Qu Bingcheng, the former head of the Russian Department of Changchun University, as the head of the Russian Department of Northeastern University. At the beginning of 1949, the Northeast Bureau and the Northeast Administrative Committee approved the renaming of the Literature Department of Northeastern University as the College of Literature, and 1950 established the Russian Department in the College of Literature. In the same year, Northeastern University was renamed Northeast Normal University. After the establishment of the Russian Department, Wu Boxiao and Sun Yaming served as Russian Department Ministers respectively. 195 1 year later, the school appointed Li Ji as the head of the Russian Department. 1956 great changes have taken place in the Russian department. Since then, all Russian courses have been taught by teachers from China. 1956 The Academic Committee of Northeastern University stipulates that all teachers should master multiple foreign languages, and the Russian Department has taken the initiative to train Russian, English and Japanese. 1957 An English teaching and research section was established at the beginning, with Mang Daling as the director.

1960, in order to meet the needs of the development of the international and domestic situation at that time, the English major was formally established. In the same year, the Russian language department was officially renamed the Foreign Languages Department. At that time, Zhang Daming, then vice president, was in charge of the English teaching and research section of the Foreign Languages Department and was responsible for setting up English majors. 1974 the department of foreign languages began to set up a Japanese major, with two teachers, Bai Jinshan and Gu, as Japanese teaching tasks. Since then, the Department of Foreign Languages has set up three majors: English, Japanese and Russian.

After the reform and opening up in China, the Foreign Languages Department of Northeast Normal University entered a period of great development. After 1977, Professor Fu began to take over the work of the Foreign Languages Department. Under the guidance of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, in order to improve teachers' professional level, cultivate more talents and create more scientific research achievements, the leaders of the foreign language department made wise decisions, began to take teaching and scientific research as the central work of the department, adjusted the teaching institutions, and set up eleven teaching and research offices successively, such as Russian teaching and research office, English teaching and research office, Japanese teaching and research office, and foreign language teaching and research office, and hired many English and Japanese experts to teach in our department, thus creating a foreign language. In addition, the Department of Foreign Languages also attaches great importance to the construction of teaching staff, creating opportunities for teachers to study abroad and exchange between schools, comprehensively improving the professional level and quality of young teachers, and cultivating a number of outstanding young teachers.

After 1978, under the situation that the state and schools attach importance to college enrollment, the Foreign Languages Department began to recruit graduate students from 1979 and entered the period of postgraduate education. In the same year, according to the agreement between the Chinese and Japanese governments, the Ministry of Education entrusted our school to set up a preparatory school for Japanese students studying in China, and the Foreign Languages Department undertook the task of setting up a preparatory school for Japanese students studying in China. 198 1, awarded the first master's degree in English language and literature; 1984, the Russian language and literature major is granted the right to master's degree; 1990 Japanese language and literature majors are granted the right to master's degree. The improvement of the level of running a school has laid a solid foundation for the foreign language department to improve the undergraduate teaching level and strengthen the discipline construction.

In the long-term process of running a school, a number of well-known scholars and foreign language education experts at home and abroad have emerged among the older generation of teachers. Professor Qu Bingcheng and Professor Zhao Min of Russian major, Professor Fu, Shu Yilun and Professor Yang Zhenxiong of English major, Professor Bai Jinshan and Professor Gu of Japanese major, and Professor Wang, Professor Wang and Professor Wang of Teaching Method major are outstanding representatives of this team. The establishment of Foreign Language Institute marks a new historical development period for foreign language majors. At the beginning of the college's establishment, the development goal of "12 1 March in a hurry" was put forward, that is, to strive for a doctorate, improve the level of teaching and scientific research, and raise social services to a new level. After several years of construction, at the turn of the century, the discipline construction of the college has achieved leap-forward development. 1998 received a doctorate in Japanese language and literature, and a doctorate in British language and literature in 2000. In order to meet the social demand for foreign language talents under the conditions of reform and opening up and market economy, the college put forward the development strategy of "developing both teachers and non-teachers", and established the department of e-commerce on 200 1 to cultivate compound foreign language talents. Up to now, our college has four research centers with their own characteristics: Japanese studies, foreign literature studies, foreign language writing studies and basic foreign language education studies in Northeast China. There are first-class doctoral programs in foreign languages and literature, and two doctoral programs in English languages and literature; There are first-class master's programs in foreign languages and literature, and six master's programs in English language and literature, Japanese language and literature, Russian language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, English-Chinese translation and foreign language teaching. Among the first-class disciplines of foreign languages and literature in Northeast China, our school is the only unit with two doctoral programs and six master programs, with complete disciplines, distinctive research characteristics and high academic level.
