China Pharmaceutical University is a national key university with pharmaceutical characteristics directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is one of the key universities under the national "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform", which is "1 1 Plan".
The school's predecessor was founded in 1936 National Pharmaceutical College (four-year program), and 1952 cheeloo university Pharmacy Department merged with Soochow University Pharmacy Department to form East China Pharmacy College. 1956 was renamed Nanjing pharmaceutical college, and 1986 merged with Nanjing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine under construction to form China Pharmaceutical University.
As of 20 13, the school has more than 5000 full-time students/kloc-0, including nearly 12000 undergraduates and more than 3300 graduate students.
