Fu Zhongsun
Sun was born in the 24th year of Guangxu, a native of Gao 'an, Jiangxi. His father, Fu, was a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. He taught his son to read ancient books. When Fu 12 years old, as the only breadwinner in the family, his father died suddenly, which made the life of this poor family more and more difficult. My father left this will before his death: Don't let his grandson drop out of school, can he do it? . In order to realize his father's dying wish, Fu's mother Chen made a living by sericulture, textile and embroidery. No matter how poor the family is, she never thought about letting her son drop out of school. Fu, who was smart, hardworking and quick-thinking since childhood, naturally dared not live up to his parents' painstaking efforts.
Selected works of fu education
When he was in middle school, he got the most outstanding results in mathematics, especially in geometry. Neither the questions given by the teacher nor the questions in the extracurricular books can meet his needs of practicing mathematics. Up to now, in Nanchang No.2 Middle School, where Fu studied, his mathematical papers are still preserved. 19 16, Fu, who graduated from high school and should have continued his studies in colleges and universities, really can't afford the tuition fees at home for his further studies. At this time, Beijing Normal University enrolled students in Nanchang for free. Students attending this college not only don't charge tuition fees, but also provide food and clothing for free. Fu hastily reported to the Department of Mathematics and Physics of Beijing Normal University. After being admitted with honors, his mother borrowed a sum of money for him, which enabled him to study in Beijing.
Qian Xuesen
When studying at Beijing Normal University, Fu served as the president of the Mathematical Society of the school and presided over the Journal of Mathematical Science edited by the Mathematical Society. Mathematics Magazine is the earliest special issue of mathematics in China, and Fu is also one of the founders of Mathematics Magazine. In every issue of Mathematics Journal, you can see Fu's published papers or foreign translations. From 65438 to 0920, Fu graduated from Peking University with honors and worked as a teacher in the middle school attached to his alma mater.
The following year, Fu was hired as a lecturer by the Department of Mathematics and Science of Beijing Normal University. During his tenure, he passed the Mathematics Research Section of his alma mater. On the eve of the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he was also a professor of mathematics at Beijing Women's Normal University, Peking University and Fu Jen Catholic University. Mr. Fu graduated from his alma mater until his death in 1962. He loved the cause of mathematics education and devoted his life to training mathematics talents for more than 40 years. Among his students, many are famous and outstanding scholars in China.
Beijing Normal University
Among them are Qian Xuesen from 1923 to 1929 studying in the middle school attached to Normal University. Qian Xuesen has talked about Mr. Fu's scene and his harvest in class many times. He said that when Mr. Fu taught geometry, the textbook he used was his own geometry handout. Because I have studied classical Chinese with my father since I was a child, I will read handouts to them in the tone of classical Chinese in class, which makes Mr. Fu's class very active and interesting.
Besides, Mr. Fu has always insisted on this point in his speech? Less but better? Teaching methods and problem solving methods. He told his students that even if they only do one math problem and use superb problem-solving methods, they can get 100 here. If you do three math problems of the same type, although the answers are all right, but the solution method is single and not new, then he only gives such students 90 points. Qian Xuesen said that it was because he listened to Fu's geometry class that he understood the significance of scientific rigor and independent thinking in mathematics, which benefited him for life in the following scientific research.
Fu former residence
Fu, who is full of peaches and plums, not only helps students to establish independent thinking in mathematics, but also his teaching methods are unforgettable. Other students recall the scenes of teacher Fu preparing lessons and giving lectures, which are still fresh in their memories. Fu often prepares lessons late into the night or even stays up all night. Although he has attended many familiar classes, Mr. Wang will meticulously prepare lessons again before the next class. Many people don't understand Mr. Fu's practice, but everyone who has attended his class knows that when Fu prepares lessons, he doesn't just write lesson plans according to the contents of the textbook. He will integrate his own teaching methods, study the language used in class and write on the blackboard.
On the left is Fu.
In Beijing Normal University, everyone who has taken Fu class thinks that Fu's blackboard writing can be used as a model for teachers' teaching. Some people will bring their cameras to class next time, take pictures of teacher Fu's blackboard writing and take them back to ponder the teacher's teaching methods. There are many anecdotes about Fu School. He once raised money for students who were hospitalized due to illness and had no medical expenses, looked for pen and ink jobs for poor students with financial difficulties, helped them earn tuition fees and subsidized their lives. Fu's concern for students is not only teaching, but also bringing spiritual comfort to students.
Elementary mixed mathematics textbook
Fu not only trained mathematics talents for the country, but also made great achievements in promoting mathematics education in China. In order to improve the mathematics education curriculum in colleges and universities, Fu and his colleagues conducted experiments on mathematics curriculum reform. According to his own teaching experience, he mixed many mathematical contents such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, and revised them repeatedly according to his own teaching experience. The last six volumes of the textbook "Elementary Mixed Mathematics" were selected by many schools, which was a qualitative leap for the elementary mathematics textbooks at that time.
Mr. Fu, who loves mathematics education, and Professor Hua jointly held the first national mathematics competition. I also participated in the symposium of middle school students' mathematics group to stimulate children's interest in mathematics with my own personal experience. 1962, Fu died of sudden illness. After his death, according to his wishes, his family donated all his life's books to the library of Beijing Normal University. This great mathematics educator who devoted his life to China's mathematics deserves to be remembered by future generations forever.
