1 general situation of professional foundation

The major of safety engineering was established by the former Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology Department of Chemical Engineering 1989, and later it was established in the Department of Management Engineering. This major has a postdoctoral research station in the first-class discipline of mining engineering, and has the right to award doctoral, master and bachelor degrees in safety technology and engineering, and the right to award master degrees in safety engineering and mining engineering, which belongs to the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" key discipline in Jiangsu Province.

2 the power of teachers

Since the establishment of the safety engineering major in our school, we have paid attention to the continuous optimization of the structure of the teaching staff and the continuous improvement of the school-running level. By increasing the introduction of talents and strengthening the training of in-service teachers, the teaching staff has developed and expanded. At present, there are 20 full-time teachers in this major, including 2 professors and 4 associate professors. Doctoral supervisor 1 person, 5 master supervisors; Most teachers in this major have doctoral degrees or are studying for doctoral degrees, forming a discipline team with reasonable echelon structure, strong cohesion and strong overall strength, which has made important contributions to the teaching, scientific research and personnel training of this major. Many teachers have made great achievements in their teaching and scientific research posts, and obtained many national and provincial funds and invention patents.

This major has national Grade B safety evaluation qualification and national Grade II safety education and training qualification; National registered safety engineer 16; There are 5 first-class safety assessors, 8 second-class safety assessors, 5 third-class safety assessors and 2 national safety assessor training teachers. It has laid a solid foundation for safety evaluation, safety education and training and social services.

(1) course design

From the perspective of economic development and social needs, the training of safety engineering professionals has two directions:

Direction A (industrial safety): To cultivate advanced applied professionals who are all-round developed in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, meet the needs of socialist modernization and economic development, have good scientific quality, broad foundation, strong ability, high quality, innovative spirit and entrepreneurial ability, master modern process industrial safety technology and safety management methods, and can engage in research and development, design, risk analysis and evaluation, management and supervision in the field of safety engineering.

Direction b (fire engineering): to cultivate professional knowledge of fire engineering with good scientific quality to meet the needs of socialist market economy construction; Get preliminary scientific research training and have the ability to analyze and solve problems; Broad foundation, strong ability, high quality, innovative spirit and practical ability. Master the basic theory of fire science, fire safety technology and methods, fire policies and regulations, and have the ability of fire engineering design, fire safety technology research, monitoring, management, fire risk assessment, control and fire accident investigation and analysis.

According to the different professional direction, the curriculum system of safety engineering specialty is as follows:

B direction (fire engineering): college English, advanced mathematics, linear algebra, probability statistics, engineering chemistry, organic chemistry, college physics, college information technology foundation, VB programming, electrician and electronics, engineering mechanics, engineering fluid mechanics, thermal energy engineering, building technology foundation, fire dynamics, fire burning, fire investigation, fire risk assessment, building structure and fire prevention engineering, smoke control and safe evacuation, etc.

Among them, public courses and public basic courses account for 56.6% of the total hours, professional basic courses account for 34. 1% of the total hours, and professional courses and direction courses account for 9.3% of the total hours. Concentrate on practical teaching for 40 weeks, mainly including metalworking practice, cognitive practice and graduation practice; Course design of chemical safety, course design of fire prevention and explosion prevention, graduation design (thesis), etc.

There are several safety engineering laboratories in this major, including one fire engineering laboratory building with an area of 2500m2, and the total assets of teaching equipment are nearly100000 yuan. The safety and fire engineering laboratory has built three major systems: the experimental system of new chemical hazard characteristics and fire and explosion, the experimental system of smoke control and liquid evaporation, the experimental system of fire foundation and detection and control. A comprehensive and comprehensive experimental system of safety and fire engineering can enable students to master the basic theories and methods of safety and fire engineering in an all-round way, and cultivate their application and innovation ability in safety engineering, fire science and fire engineering.

(3) Practice base

4 employment direction

In the process of cultivating students, we should adhere to market orientation and brand effect, adjust teaching plans in time, and strictly control teaching quality. In recent years, the wide-caliber employment rate of graduates of this major has reached 100%, of which about 15% was admitted to graduate schools, about 20% worked in foreign-funded enterprises, and about 10% worked in administrative departments, exceeding 60%. The employment direction of each major direction is as follows:

Direction A (Industrial Safety): After graduation, students can engage in safety production supervision, safety administrative law enforcement, special equipment supervision, safety management, safety evaluation, safety design and safety engineering technology research in enterprises and institutions such as government, safety production supervision and management departments, universities, research institutes, design units and safety intermediaries.

B direction (fire engineering): After graduation, students can engage in fire fighting technology and equipment, research and development of fire extinguishing agents and flame retardant materials, fire safety supervision, fire engineering design, fire safety assessment, fire safety monitoring, fire engineering construction and fire safety management in Armed Police Fire Corps, fire detection service agencies, architectural design institutes, fire engineering companies and various fire products production enterprises.
