1953 Why did Guangxi University close down?
Guangxi University 1953 was closed because of the reconstruction of the domestic education system.

After the founding of New China, everything was ready. The economic and political center was transferred to Beijing, Northeast Industrial Zone and Yangtze River Delta Industrial Zone, and the demand for educational resources was rearranged and distributed. The country needs to concentrate on economic development and reduce expenditure, but Guangxi is located in the southwest, with backward economic transportation, complex environment and inconvenient management, so it is temporarily cancelled.

1953, Guangxi University was closed during the national faculty adjustment, and teachers, students, equipment and books were transferred to universities in Central China and South China 19.

19531June 17, 53 teachers of Chinese, foreign languages, history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, education and 258 normal college students were merged into Guangxi Normal University (now Guangxi Normal University). Among them, department of mechanical engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering (electric power part), the earliest established and the strongest faculty, merged into Huazhong Institute of Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology).

The Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering were merged into South China University of Technology (now South China University of Technology), the Department of Civil Architecture with a long history was merged into Central South Institute of Architecture and Engineering (now Hunan University), the Department of Mining and Metallurgy was merged into Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (now Central South University), and the Agricultural College was merged into Huazhong Agricultural College (now Huazhong Agricultural University).
