In Chinese mainland, according to 19981the Regulations on the Administration of Registration of Social Organizations promulgated on October 25th, social organizations refer to non-profit social organizations which are formed voluntarily by citizens of China and carry out activities in accordance with their articles of association in order to achieve the consent of members.
The establishment of social organizations must be approved by the competent business unit, and must also accept the supervision of the registration authority (civil affairs) and the competent business unit; In fact, political groups are restricted or banned.
Community, also known as social organization, is a popular group term in the network, which refers to non-governmental organizations focusing on culture, academics or public welfare.
Literally, the meaning of "people's organizations" defined in the People's Organization Law of the National Government is basically the same. The following three types of organizations do not belong to social groups:
(1) People's organizations participating in the China People's Political Consultative Conference;
(two) the establishment of an organization approved by the administrative organ in the State Council is exempted from registration with the approval of the State Council;
(three) approved by the unit, established within the organs, organizations, enterprises and institutions, and activities within the unit.
