The College has a deep historical relationship with Lingnan University, which was founded more than 30 years ago. 1888, American friendly people founded Gezhi Academy (the predecessor of Lingnan University) in Guangzhou, 1926, and its name was changed to private Lingnan University. 1927 Lingnan University was taken over by China people, and Dr. Zhong Rongguang was the first president of China. 1952, during the adjustment of national departments, the relevant departments of Lingnan University were merged into Sun Yat-sen University and other institutions of higher learning. 1988, on the occasion of the centenary of Lingnan University, the State Education Commission announced the approval of the establishment of Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University.
The college has a strong faculty, excellent teaching conditions and rich historical accumulation. All kinds of degree programs have become popular projects in South China and even the whole country, attracting a large number of outstanding candidates to apply for the exam every year.
