The legend of narcissus

Legend of China:

Legend has it that daffodils are the incarnations of Yao Emperor's daughters E Huang and Nv Ying. They are all married to Shun. Their elder sister is a queen and their younger sister is a princess. Their relationship is very good. Shun southern tour accident, and both buried in Xiangjiang River. God took pity on their loved ones, so he turned their souls into daffodils by the river, and they became the flower gods of daffodils in December. Based on this, predecessors wrote many poems praising narcissus, such as Cao Zhi's Ode to Luoshen, and the poems before and after Narcissus in Song Dynasty. If they condense the beauty of daffodils to one point, it is "pure".

Daughter's daffodils

Wang Qingming

I don't know much about flowers, and I don't like growing them. I have never written an article about flowers in an arty way. I lived in Shenga, Zhangzhou, the hometown of daffodils, for four years. I have seen daffodils, let alone seen them. Narcissus, called "Qingming Festival at the end of the year" by elegant people, is placed on the desk, but I don't have the honor.

My second-grade daughter had a winter vacation, and the teacher assigned a question of observing daffodils and keeping a diary. So on the 23rd of the lunar calendar, I bought flowers for the first time. I bought daffodils, and the task of raising flowers was given to my daughter.

I have read some poems about narcissus before, and the Narcissus by Xiamen poet Shu Ting left a deep impression on me: there is a kind of flower in the south, which is sold wholesale and retail to the distant window, borrowed a bowl of clear water, matched with a green leaf, a golden lamp, a silver brace and a poor fragrant soul, which is hard to carve. ... the poet used daffodils to write a woman's tenderness and fate, highlighting her tender and affectionate side, but I have some doubts. My daughter carefully carried the daffodil basin with a smile on her face, which naturally reminded me of this poem I read in college.

Narcissus takes root in white narcissus bulbs and nourishes itself with water. There are no branches, only green leaves stretch into the sky and then fall naturally. It also grows in the cold winter, and the copper branches and iron stems of Chimonanthus praecox are like knives and halberds to resist the cold wind; Narcissus leaves are slender and luxuriant, fluttering like clothes. When the wind blows, it dances sideways.

On the 24th day of the lunar calendar, when my daughter changed water, she found a bud spit out from the top of the leaf and cried out in surprise. I see some flower stems in the leaves. I thought they belonged to leaves at first, but now I have left one or two small buds at her tip. On the 25th, my daughter and I went to see narcissus buds again. The small flame-like bud has changed into the shape of a protruding lip. I teach my daughter an idiom: bud. My daughter wrote it in her diary. I seem to see that when these bulging lips blow, flowers will be exposed, just like my daughter used to blow soap bubbles.

On the morning of the 26th of the twelfth lunar month, my daughter cheered: "Dad, come and see, the daffodils are in bloom!" " "My daughter took my hand and came to the balcony. I saw two small flowers swaying in the wind. Six petals, slightly yellow white, six-sided jade plate; The flower heart in the dish is golden, shaped like a wine glass, full of daughter's joy. I remember someone comparing daffodils to "jade platform with golden lamps" or "golden lamps and silver platforms", which is really appropriate. This daffodil also began to fill my happiness.

At night, my daughter sleeps in her dream. She may dream of this beautiful daffodil. Buried in writing, I suddenly remembered daffodils and looked up some information about daffodils. Liu Kezhuang, a poet in Song Dynasty and a native of Putian, wrote in Narcissus: The falling flowers in old China were bleak, and a gust of wind was absolutely pitiful. Don't let mud invade Su Hao, because the wind reveals my beauty ... I have never raised flowers, and I have a feeling of love and pity for daffodils. I went to my daughter's room to tuck her in and watch her sleep. I really want to kiss her. But I'm not used to this way of expressing love, and I quit silently. My heart is full of tenderness.

The smile of daffodils is very infectious. Four more flowers opened in two days. I'm tired of writing. Looking at the daffodils on the balcony, I seem to hear them giggling together. In the hall, my daughter was watching TV, and the plot made her laugh from time to time. I got up and The Journey to the West was playing on the TV in the hall. Any novel plot in the play will cause her to cheer and laugh happily. Carefree childhood, it's good. I stroked my daughter's head and went back to work in my room.

Narcissus is my daughter's flower and mine. I decided to write some words to record the traces of these years. Happiness is not short-lived, but easily forgotten. I wrote this article just to leave this happiness in it.

I remember watching flower farmers grow daffodils when I was in Zhangzhou. Many people don't know that narcissus didn't grow in water at first, but was buried in the soil. Huanong carved the narcissus bulb with a meat cleaver, then buried it in the soil until roots, stems and leaves grew, then dug it out and nourished it with clear water.

The beauty of daffodils is carefully carved, and the soil once gave her the earliest nutrients. Opening the business is Narcissus's own business, so let me make this initial soil. I found Wordsworth's ode to the daffodil and recited it gently:

……

How many times have I lied alone,

Feel bored and empty;

This scene flashed through my mind,

How many times have comforted my loneliness;

My heart dances with daffodils again,

My heart is full of joy again.

Another daffodil bloomed on the balcony outside the window, and the leaves and flowers danced in the cold wind. Like Wordsworth, I found the sustenance of my heart, smelled the fragrance like daffodils from the depths of my life, and was filled with joy again.
