Changchun University is a provincial comprehensive university. The school has three campuses, with a total area of 654.38+0.02 million square meters, 265.438+0 teaching departments, 58 undergraduate majors, 6 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees and 9 master's degree authorization points. Majors cover economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and art.

From 65438 to 0987, China Disabled Persons' Federation and Jilin Provincial People's Government established the first special education college in Asia, which enrolled visually and hearing-impaired students for higher education, creating a precedent for disabled people to receive higher education in China.

The predecessor of Changchun University is Changchun Institute of Industrial Accounting Statistics, which was established by the former Ministry of Industry of the Northeast People's Government to train the first batch of new industrial accounting statistics talents in China. With the development of the country and the changes of the times, the name of the school has changed several times. 1983 was renamed Jilin Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. 1987 With the approval of the former State Education Commission, the former Jilin University of Technology, Jilin Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Changchun Foreign Studies University and Changchun Vocational College were merged into Changchun University. In August 2000, the original Jilin Forestry School was merged.
