The influence of Chinese Pinyin;
Chinese words from hanyu pinyin have entered the English vocabulary system one after another. For example, "local tyrants" are included in the Oxford English Dictionary in the form of words, which has aroused widespread discussion and concern. According to relevant statistics, there are more than 200 words from Chinese in the Oxford English Dictionary. In fact, in daily life, many Chinese loanwords have occupied a place in the English vocabulary system and become an indispensable part of it.
There are three main reasons for this phenomenon. First, English is highly open and inclusive, with many foreign words. Second, the rapid development of science and technology and the increasing frequency of cultural exchanges will inevitably promote vocabulary borrowing between languages; Third, the international status of Chinese is getting higher and higher, and it has a greater influence on English, which is also the most important point. In the final analysis, the underlying reason is the increase of China's global influence and attention.
Professor Zhou Haizhong of Sun Yat-sen University believes that Chinese words in English are the inevitable product of Sino-British contact and the inevitable result of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures. With the increasing communication between the Chinese nation and English-speaking countries, it is inevitable that more and more English words will come from Chinese.
