Tianjin Conservatory of Music is an important art college in northern China to train talents in music, dance, drama and film and television. It is the construction unit of Tianjin University's off-campus innovation practice base for postgraduate education, and the first batch of master's degree awarding units approved by the State Council.

The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as the Central Conservatory of Music, and 1950 was established in Tianjin. 1959 In July, the Central Conservatory of Music (Tianjin part) was renamed Tianjin Conservatory of Music. 1973 was renamed Tianjin Art Institute. 1980, with the approval of the State Council, Tianjin Conservatory of Music was officially restored and Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts was established separately.

As of June 20 15, the college is divided into two campuses: the south campus and the north campus, covering an area of 139.58 mu, with a building area of 8446 1.6 square meters, with 53443.65 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, 70 classrooms of various types, 26 multimedia classrooms, 2 voice classrooms and dance practice rooms.
