Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (65438+September 5th, 0888–65438+April 1975) is an Indian philosopher and politician.

Radhakrishnan was born in Tirutani, Madras province in southern India. My parents are Telugu Brahmins and believe in traditional Hinduism. However, he received secondary and university education in Christian school and received a doctorate in philosophy. Since 1909, he has been a professor of philosophy at Mysore University and Kolkata University, a vice-president at Andhra University and Benares Hindu University, and a visiting lecturer and professor at spaulding College of Oxford University in the United Kingdom and University of Chicago in the United States, teaching Eastern religions and ethics.

1927 chairman of the third congress of the Indian philosophical society in Mumbai, 193 1- 1939 member of the international knowledge cooperation Committee of the Geneva League. 1939 was awarded the title of Academician of the British Academy of Sciences, and later was an honorary academician. 1944, he went to Chongqing to give lectures and wrote a book, India and China, which was published that year. After India's independence, 1946- 1950 was the head of the Indian delegation of UNESCO, 1948 was the chairman of the Indian University Committee, 1949 was the first Indian ambassador to the Soviet Union, and 1952 was the vice president of India, visiting Asia, Europe and America. These included a visit to China from 65438 to 0957, which was received by President Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai. 1962 was elected president of India. 1967 returned to his hometown after leaving office, 1975 died.

He is familiar with Indian philosophy, and has also studied western philosophy and China's philosophy of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi. He has published nearly 20 books on religious philosophy, including Upanishads Philosophy, Indian Philosophy, Eastern Religion and Western Thought, and Religion and Society. His masterpiece is Tagore's Philosophy. He received honorary degrees from many universities in India, Europe and North America. Birthday:1September 5, 888
