Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI = Master of Translation and Interpretation) was established in June 2007. MTI is one of the 20 professional degrees in China. In 2007, the first batch of MTI pilot teaching units approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee were 15, including Peking University? Beijing Foreign Studies University? Fudan University? Guangdong University of Foreign Studies? PLA Foreign Languages Institute, Hunan Normal University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nankai University, Shanghai International Studies University, Tongji University, Xiamen University, Southwest University, Central South University, Sun Yat-sen University.

Historically, MTI was divided into full-time and on-the-job classes, and some schools were called autumn classes and spring classes. On-the-job MTI needs to take the GCT exam for the first time, and the second exam is generally a test of translation practice ability. The situation in each school is different. However, starting from 20 10, MTI gradually canceled the on-the-job master's degree in English and changed it to a unified full-time one. Certification has also been changed to diploma and degree certificate, which is no different from the traditional academic master's translation certificate.
