Hubei University Brilliant College is a pilot base for Hubei University to carry out education and teaching reform and cultivate top-notch innovative talents. In 2007, the school started the Chucai program, and in 2008, Chucai College was established and began to recruit students.

There are 223 undergraduates in 6 administrative classes of arts and sciences at 20 13, 20 14 and 20 15, and 80 preparatory classes at 20 16. There are two student party branches, namely the liberal arts student party branch planned by Chu Cai and the science student party branch planned by Chu Cai. There are 34 students in party member, accounting for 15.25% of the total number of students.

There are several times in-school selection. The first selection was conducted during the military training of freshmen. For full-time freshmen of non-art and physical education, some students are selected to form Chu Cai plan preparatory class.

The second selection was made in the later period of the freshman year, and the second selection was made for students in the preparatory class and full-time undergraduates majoring in non-art sports in the first year of the university. Chu Cai planned to formally establish the liberal arts and science class.
