General situation of Jimei University Teacher Education College
The historical evolution of the Teacher Education College of Jimei University can be traced back to the Jimei Normal School founded in 19 18 by Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. Over the past decades, the college has gone through the school-running process of Xiamen Teachers College, Jimei Teachers College and Jimei University Teachers College. In March, 2004, a new round of discipline adjustment and institutional reform in Jimei University established Jimei University Teacher Education College on the basis of the former Education Department of Jimei University Teachers College and Jimei University Modern Education Technology Center. The college now has four undergraduate majors: primary education (mathematics, Chinese), preschool education, educational technology and applied psychology, correspondence undergraduate course in primary education and preparatory classes for ethnic minorities. There are 63 faculty members in the college, including 45 full-time teachers and 5 experimental technicians. Among the full-time teachers, there are 6 professors, 0/9 associate professors and 20 lecturers. Among the teachers, there are 6 doctors and 30 masters. The college has more than 1 100 full-time students.

The college consists of five teaching and research sections (primary education, educational technology, preschool education, applied psychology and educational theory), three research institutes (Jimei University Institute of Educational Science, Jimei University Institute of Modern Educational Technology and Jimei University Institute of Applied Psychology), Jimei University Language Committee Office and Jimei University Teachers' Vocational Skills Training Center. The center has three basic laboratories for teacher education and six professional laboratories, as well as a library and reference room. In addition to undertaking the undergraduate teaching tasks of three majors in our college, we are also responsible for all students' Putonghua proficiency test and standardized Chinese writing assessment, psychological counseling and mental health education, the teaching of teacher education courses such as pedagogy and psychology in all normal majors in our school, and the pre-service training of teachers.
