The former Shanghai Railway University became the Shanghai West Campus of Tongji University. In July 2000, Shanghai West Campus Management Committee was established, and in August, Tongji University Shanghai West Campus Working Committee was established.
The original campus of Shanghai Railway Institute is at Zhennan Road 1. Covering an area of 24.2 hectares, the building area is 1.5 1.3 million square meters. 1995 In May, Shanghai Railway Institute and Shanghai Railway Medical College merged to form Shanghai Railway University, and its headquarters was located in the former Shanghai Railway Institute. In April 2000, Tongji University and Shanghai Railway University merged to form a new Tongji University, and the former Shanghai Railway University (headquarters) became the Huxi Campus of Tongji University.
Teacher adjustment

1950, in order to support the medical and health undertakings in Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Henan and Jiangxi provinces (central and southern regions), the medical college and its affiliated tongji hospital all moved to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and were renamed as Tongji Medical College of Central South China (now Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology) and tongji hospital, Wuhan after merging with Medical College of Wuhan University.
195 1, the departments of civil engineering of Guanghua University and Daxia University (now East China Normal University) were merged into Tongji University; Department of Zoology and Department of Botany of Tongji University merged into East China Normal University. The affiliated senior industrial vocational school moved to Nanjing and established Nanjing Institute of Machinery (now Nanjing Institute of Technology). At that time, there was a motion to move Tongji University Institute of Technology to Dalian, but it was not implemented later.
