Tsinghua science and technology male entrepreneurial story: 10 square meter dormitory out of cutting-edge technology

"Small and medium-sized enterprises have great potential. We should help them get on the horse and give them a ride, so that' grassroots' innovation will become a common practice and blossom everywhere." It's a passage from Premier Li Keqiang's 20 15 government work report, and the new term "maker" has been mentioned many times in the report. Three young "makers" in Tsinghua University just caught up with this wave of grassroots entrepreneurship. They gave up job hunting and high-paying famous enterprises and chose to jointly establish haskell Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "haskell").

At present, haskell has become a leading enterprise in the field of non-invasive diagnosis of liver fibrosis in China, and successfully developed the world's first image-guided non-invasive detection system for liver fibrosis-Fibrotoouch, which broke the technological monopoly of foreign products.

Like-minded three-person entrepreneurship

By chance, Shao Jinhua of the Department of Automation of Tsinghua University saw the theory of "instantaneous elastic imaging" in an academic article, that is, using low-frequency shear waves to detect liver hardness in order to find liver diseases as soon as possible, which touched him greatly.

According to the report of the World Health Organization, there are nearly 654.38 billion people suffering from liver injury in the world, while there are 280 million people in China. The direct medical expenses for liver diseases in China are as high as hundreds of billions every year. If these chronic liver diseases are not treated in time and effectively, they may lead to liver fibrosis and gradually develop into cirrhosis and even liver cancer. If the degree of hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease can be easily evaluated, the condition can be judged, and the corresponding methods can be selected for treatment, hepatic fibrosis can be reversed and can be prevented from developing into cirrhosis or even liver cancer.

"I have a background in circuit boards and knowledge of life medicine. Why not try to apply the theory of' instantaneous elastic imaging' to practice? " Shao Jinhua realized the market prospect and social significance of "instantaneous elastic imaging" technology. Sun Jin, Duan and Shao Jinhua, the good brothers who slept together, hit it off. They decided to make a technological breakthrough and founded Hayes Kyle.

During the day, they are busy with academic research, and at night they get together to develop detectors. The intensity of low frequency shear wave is small and the liver is unresponsive; If the intensity is large, it will affect the judgment; The fluctuation of the liver is a bunch of codes that professionals can understand ... They repeatedly type codes, change algorithms, build models and adjust systems on the computer, often tossing until two or three in the morning or even staying up all night.

There is a lack of funds in the start-up stage, and the three young "makers" can save money. They often go to Zhongguancun Electronic City to find a bunch of circuit boards and then come back to assemble them. People around them were surprised that they went to the vegetable market, but the pieces of pig liver they bought were the initial experiments in their research and development stage.

After more than a year's efforts, the products they developed gradually got a clue, and the complex lines and the cooperation between different modules gradually became orderly. After animal experiments, model experiments, human experiments and final clinical experiments, the system gradually formed stably.

In the winter of 20 10, in a dormitory of less than 10 square meter in Tsinghua University Bauhinia Student Apartment, the engineering prototype of the world's first noninvasive liver fibrosis detector was born in a pile of circuit boards. This detector has no shell package, just a bare circuit board.

The non-invasive liver fibrosis diagnosis system and fatty liver quantitative detection system FibroTouch developed by three young "makers" integrate two-dimensional imaging and instantaneous elastic imaging technology, accurately locate the liver tissue to be detected through image guidance, and can measure the liver from multiple angles and in all directions.

Doctors can diagnose and track the disease at the early stage according to the noninvasive quantitative detection results of FibroTouch, and apply reversible treatment, so as to realize early screening, early diagnosis, early treatment and early rehabilitation of chronic liver disease as soon as possible.

Independent innovation breaks foreign technology monopoly

The noninvasive hepatic fibrosis detector developed by Haskell combines ultrasonic wave and low-frequency shear wave technology well, which is more accurate and scientific than the original French technology. Prior to this, only the French company adkerson successfully applied the "instantaneous elastic imaging" technology in the world.

With the important social value of the "Instantaneous Elastic Noninvasive Liver Fibrosis Detection System" leading innovative technology-related products, haskell has won numerous awards in various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, winning the 20 14 Innovation China Finals, the 20 14 National College Students Entrepreneurship Competition and the 20 14 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Jiangsu Division) Finals.

It is reported that at present, haskell has begun to formulate market strategies and allocate market resources according to the goal of becoming an industry leader. Nowadays, the noninvasive hepatic fibrosis detector developed by haskell has been put into use in nearly 100 top three hospitals in China.
