The school closely serves the strategic needs of Guangdong's pharmaceutical industry development and vigorously promotes scientific and technological innovation and medical application research, which is an important base for regional medical research.

Four key laboratories in state administration of traditional chinese medicine (third-class laboratories) and eight key laboratories in Guangdong (research centers) have been established, and a relatively complete pharmaceutical R&D and innovation system covering chemical drugs, traditional Chinese medicine and biological drugs has been established. It has undertaken a large number of national, provincial and municipal scientific research tasks, including major national new drug creation projects, and won the second prize including national scientific and technological progress with the first person who completed it.
