Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in1959; 1969 in may, the school merged with Jiangxi medical college to form Jiangxi medical university; 1March, 973, with the approval of the State Council, Jiangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was restored on the basis of Jiangxi College of Pharmacy; 20 13 was renamed Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, state administration of traditional chinese medicine and Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. It is a national doctoral degree authorized unit, a pilot university for the reform of the national excellent doctoral (Chinese medicine) education and training plan, and the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Education give designated support to western universities. It is a "basic culture ground for medical postgraduates (preparatory courses) with high-level backbone talents of ethnic minorities", a university with the qualification of recommending excellent undergraduate students to study for master's degree without examination and "5+3" integrated enrollment of Chinese medicine major, a scholarship receiving institution of China government for foreign students in China, and a national demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education.
