Students recommended by some middle schools to walk are exempted from taking the national unified entrance examination for ordinary colleges and universities with the consent of the relevant ordinary colleges and universities, and are directly admitted to school. The enrollment of walk-in students in colleges and universities belongs to a special type of enrollment. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and other relevant departments in 2022, members of the national middle school students' discipline Olympic competition training team, outstanding students recommended by some foreign language schools, children of police heroes, retired athletes and other personnel are still eligible to walk in colleges and universities. Colleges and universities can recruit students from the above-mentioned personnel, and children of police heroes and heroes can only be sent to public security colleges and universities according to relevant regulations.

Members of the national training team for middle school students' Olympic competition: Among the types of students who race walking, the most valuable qualification for race walking is the race walking of members of the national training team in five major disciplines. Five disciplines include: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.

Only the top 50 students in the national finals (the top 60 students in the mathematics competition) can enter the national training team and directly obtain the qualification of walking in colleges and universities. There are basically only two universities where students walk in the competition, Tsinghua and Peking University. Some foreign language middle schools recommend outstanding students: The Ministry of Education stipulates that national 16 foreign language middle schools can recommend foreign language talents to universities.
