University of international business and economics, Shanghai, located in Shanghai, is the first batch of universities built by the Ministry of Education's "High-level Internationalized Talents Training and Innovation Practice Base", the Ministry of Education's "National Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Heritage Base for Colleges and Universities", Asia-Pacific Training Center, WTO President College, China WTO Affairs Center of Excellence, doctoral degree awarding unit and Shanghai University Base for Cadre Education and Training. It has been selected into Shanghai University Graduates Employment and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Base, Shanghai University A-level Entrepreneurship Guidance Station, Shanghai Excellent Legal Talents Training Base, Shanghai Excellent Journalism and Communication Talents Education and Training Base, and Shanghai Key High-level Local Universities. He is a member of the Virtual Institute Alliance of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Asia-Pacific Trade Research and Training Network of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the governing unit of the Global Alliance of Foreign Studies Universities, the founder of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries University Association, and the member of the International Association of Higher Business Schools.

The school, formerly known as Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, was founded in 1960. 1September 1994, the school was placed under the management of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government by the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. On April 20 13, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed university of international business and economics.

As of May 2022, the school has three campuses, Songjiang, Gubei and Qibao, covering an area of 1003 mu and a building area of 323,700 square meters. It has paper books1589,300 copies, electronic books189,500 copies, 87 Chinese and foreign databases and 57,700 full-text electronic journals. There are 13 colleges (teaching departments) and 35 undergraduate majors; There are 1 doctoral programs in first-class disciplines, 7 master programs in first-class disciplines, 36 master programs in two disciplines, and 13 professional degree-granting fields; At present, there are more than 200 faculty members 1.200 students 1.300, including more than 9,000 full-time undergraduates, nearly 4,000 graduate students and more than 300 international students with academic qualifications.
