Baidu Encyclopedia shows that Nantong Open University, located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, is a new type of institution of higher learning that is supported by modern information technology, faces all members of society, holds higher vocational education, higher education continuing education, non-academic education and community education, and serves lifelong learning for the whole people. Nantong Open University, renamed from Nantong Radio and TV University, is a local adult college directly under Nantong Municipal People's Government.

Nantong Open University has more than 300 faculty members, including nearly 200 middle and senior titles, and 65% have master's degree or above. The school has six secondary colleges, including School of Architecture and Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Art and Media, School of Marxism and Ministry of Education, as well as social education department and training center. There are three levels of undergraduate, junior college and technical secondary school, covering three categories: vocational education, open education and community education, with more than 10,000 students of all kinds.
