The college is the construction unit of the national chemical teaching base for basic engineering courses (there are only 9 in China). The chemical teaching base construction project of the national engineering basic course of Central South University was officially launched at the end of 1996. This is a major reform and construction project of engineering education organized by the Ministry of Education in our school following the State Key Laboratory of Central South University, the construction of key disciplines and the "2 1 1" project. The overall goal of base construction is: through five years' efforts, to build a team of high-quality teachers with doctors and masters as the main body and combining teaching with scientific research; Establish a set of course teaching system that meets the requirements of quality training of engineering and technical personnel in 2 1 century and conforms to the laws of chemistry teaching; A chemical teaching experiment center with advanced equipment and modern teaching methods, integrating the functions of synthesis, design and research, featuring the cultivation of undergraduates and postgraduates majoring in metallurgy, materials, chemical engineering and mineral engineering, can meet the needs of engineering technology development and discipline development. Since its establishment, the base has invested more than 5 million yuan, and passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education in 2005, and was rated as an excellent base. In 2000, he won the first prize and the second prize of Hunan Education Achievement and the second prize of National Excellent Teaching Achievement 1. In recent years, * * * has compiled and published more than 30 textbooks. Relying on the national chemical teaching base of basic engineering courses, the school selects the best molecules from the freshmen of the whole school to form a chemical teaching reform class every year, and implements excellent education for the students in the teaching reform class, which has achieved remarkable results.
