Tokyo University of the Arts was promulgated and implemented according to the Law on the Establishment of National Schools (LawNo. 105 in the 24th year of Showa), including Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts (now Academy of Fine Arts) and Tokyo Conservatory of Music (now Conservatory of Music). In May of the 24th year of Showa, the Academy of Fine Arts (painting department, sculpture department, craft department, architecture department and art department) and the Conservatory of Music (composition department) were established.
