Humanities and Social Sciences, a classified catalogue of overseas universities jointly published by the National University Information Research Association and the Evaluation and Research Center of Renmin University of China, is a useful exploration for actively participating in the global higher education governance and establishing the quality evaluation standard of independent transnational education in China. Its innovations are reflected in four aspects: first, it is the first time to explore and develop the subject classification catalogue of overseas universities to provide overseas higher education quality information for domestic employers and overseas students;

Second, it overcomes the disadvantage that the existing world university/discipline rankings can not effectively evaluate the level of humanities and social sciences, and is conducive to promoting the prosperity and development of humanities and social sciences worldwide; Third, it solves the problem that the existing world university/discipline rankings can not effectively evaluate the quality of personnel training, which is conducive to correcting the bad evaluation orientation of attaching importance to scientific research and neglecting teaching; Fourth, the index system is appropriate, which not only emphasizes objectivity and international comparability, but also takes into account the cultural and regional characteristics of humanities and social sciences.

At the press conference, experts and scholars from the Education Quality Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, China Academy of Educational Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, China Renmin University, China Education Online and other institutions conducted in-depth discussions on the topic of "Building an Education Power and University Evaluation Reform".
