The school was formerly known as Zhenjiang Agricultural Machinery College, 1982 was renamed as Jiangsu Institute of Technology, and 1994 was upgraded to Jiangsu University of Technology. By 200 1, Jiangsu University merged with Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Normal College.
Jiangsu University is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is also the first batch of high-level universities in Jiangsu Province, the first batch of universities with excellent undergraduate teaching level in China, the first batch of 50 universities with typical experience in graduate employment, the first batch of universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship in China, the first batch of universities with quality certification for overseas students in China, and the national pilot university for comprehensive reform of "three-round education".
