This major has three directions, which is oriented by the public demand, and cultivates modern Chinese packaging design, information visualization design, design project planning and management talents featuring the integration of science and technology and national art. Wuhan Institute of Technology, referred to as Engineering University, is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is a multi-disciplinary teaching and research university focusing on engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, art, medicine and education. It is a key construction university in Hubei Province and a first-class discipline construction university in Hubei Province. The school was founded in June, 1972, formerly known as Hubei Institute of Chemical Technology and Petroleum, under the Hubei Provincial People's Government. 1980 was renamed Wuhan institute of chemical technology in March, and was replaced by the former head of the chemical industry department. 1July, 1998, the school was placed under the management of Hubei Provincial People's Government, and was jointly funded by the central and local governments. In February 2006, it was renamed Wuhan University of Technology.
