Tianjin University, called Tianda for short, was originally named Beiyang University, and was founded on February 2, 1895, 10. It is the first modern university in China and the first university of modern higher education in China. After the failure of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the school was founded in Tianjin by Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, with Sheng Xuanhuai as the first inspector, with the aim of "cultivating talents and striving for self-improvement, and pursuing talents first". The school was originally named Beiyang University Hall, which consists of a first-level school (undergraduate) and a second-level school (pre-university). First-class schools have four courses: law, engineering, mining and machinery.
The school adheres to the development concept of "strengthening engineering, enriching science, promoting literature and medicine", and has formed a comprehensive discipline layout with obvious advantages in engineering, integration of science and engineering, and coordinated development of economy, management, literature, law, medicine, education, art and philosophy. There are 64 undergraduate majors, 39 first-class master majors, 28 first-class doctoral majors and 23 post-doctoral research stations. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, Tianjin University * * * has 25 first-level disciplines to participate in the evaluation, and the number of disciplines entering Class A reaches 14.
Among them, chemical engineering and technology entered the A+ file, 4 disciplines entered the A file (2%-5%), and 9 disciplines entered the A file (5%- 10%). Nine subject areas entered 1% before ESI, and three of them entered 1% before ESI. Tianjin Chemical Industry Collaborative Innovation Center established by our university has become one of the first batch of14 "2011collaborative innovation centers" in China.
In the latest National Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, Tianjin University, as the first completed unit, won seven achievement awards, among which Zhong's "Engineering Education Reform and Practice Facing New Engineering" and Wang Jingkang's "Research and Practice of Comprehensive Reform of Chemical Higher Education in China" won the first prize.
The school attaches importance to international exchanges and cooperation. Establish "China-ASEAN Engineering University Alliance" and "China and Central European Countries Science and Technology Innovation University Alliance", establish "China-ASEAN Smart Ocean Education Center" and "APEC Sustainable Energy Center, an international energy cooperation institution". The college has signed agreements with 232 universities, research institutions and companies in 45 countries and 3 regions around the world. Three Confucius Institutes have been established overseas, namely, the Confucius Institute in Bratislava, Slovakia, the Confucius Institute in Queensland University, Australia and the Confucius Institute in Nice University, France.
