The research centers under the academic research institute have covered all countries and regions in the world except the Middle East, Oceania and Africa. Research centers 13: American Research Center, Japanese Research Center, Korea/North Korea Research Center, Russian Central Asian Research Center, Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center, European Research Center, Nordic Center, Latin American Research Center, United Nations and International Organizations Research Center, China Diplomatic Research Center, South Asian Research Center and Pakistani Research Center. It also includes the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education (small base) and the national American research and innovation base of philosophy and social sciences (large base).

American research center

The Center for American Studies is the core part of the Institute of International Studies, established in 1985. It is one of the earliest major institutions established in China to specialize in American studies, and it is also the first institution in China to specialize in American studies.

In 2000, the center was approved as the key research base of humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, and in 2006, it was approved as the national innovation base of philosophy and social sciences in the United States. The Ministry of Education and Fudan University provide financial support for the research work of the center, and the center is also sponsored by the American Overseas Schools and Hospitals Program under the US Agency for International Development. ..

The research and international cooperation of the American Research Center in Sino-US relations, non-proliferation and arms control, as well as the US Congress, have been affirmed by academic and policy circles at home and abroad.

Fudan Foundation has a "Xie Xide Scholarship" to commemorate Professor Xie Xide's outstanding efforts in Sino-US relations. The "American Studies" series published by the Center has been included in CSSCI.

Professor Xie Xide, the late president of Fudan University, is the first director, Professor Ni Shixiong is the second director, Professor Shen Dingli is the current director, and Professor Wu Xinbo and Associate Professor Xin Qiang are the deputy directors.

Japan research center

The Japan Research Center was established in July 1990. Its purpose is to conduct a comprehensive study and exchange of Japan's politics, economy, society and culture with Sino-Japanese relations as the main line and economy as the focus, and to promote the study and exchange of East Asia.

For a long time, the center has received strong support from Japan International Exchange Fund, Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai, Cai Wei Corporation of Japan, Japan World Expo Memorial Association, Japanese experts and scholars, and domestic universities and research institutions. Since 199 1, the Japan Fund for International Exchange has given key support to the center as a stronghold institution.

Professor Guo Dingping, the current director of the Center, currently has full-time staff 1 1, part-time researchers inside and outside the school 100, and has hired many famous foreign scholars and industrialists from Japan, the United States, South Korea and Singapore as consultant professors.

Korea research center

The Korea Research Center was established in June 1992. The current director is Professor Shi, with 6 full-time researchers and more than 30 part-time researchers. The research work of the center has had a considerable impact at home and abroad, and has been funded by the Korea International Exchange Foundation, the Academic Revitalization Foundation and the Japan International Exchange Fund.

The center published papers on Korean studies and was selected into the CSSCI data set of the Ministry of Education in 2006. At present, the Central Library has nearly 10,000 books on Korean studies, which is a professional library with great influence on Korean studies in China.

Central Asia Research Center

The Russian Center for Central Asian Studies was established in 2005. The current director is Professor Zhao Huasheng, and the deputy directors are Professor Yang Xinyu and Professor Tang Zhuchang. At present, * * * has 10 researchers.

The center's main research directions are: Russian politics and diplomacy in Central Asia, Sino-Russian relations, China's diplomacy in Central Asia, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, transitional economy, Russian law, etc.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center

Established in 2005, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center is the only Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center directly under the Ministry of Education in China, which undertakes relevant topics of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and organizes relevant research. The current director of the center is Professor Zhao Huasheng. Russian Central Asia Research Center and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center have their own emphases and complement each other.

European research center

The European Research Center was formally established 1993. 1996 10 in order to implement the "China-EU higher education cooperation project", it was reorganized according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education. The center focuses on organizing and carrying out research and teaching on the economic, political, legal, social and cultural aspects of the integration of the EU and Europe and the internal and external relations, and gradually builds itself into a research base, a teaching base, an academic exchange base and an information base on European issues.

The current executive deputy director of the center is Professor Ding Chun, and the deputy directors are Professor Chen Zhimin and Professor Hu Ronghua. There are six research rooms for comprehensive, economic, political, legal, social and cultural studies, with more than 30 researchers from various disciplines in the school. Ambassador May of distinguished professor presided over the "Ambassador Forum", and Professor Dai Bingran, Professor and Professor served as vice-chairmen.

Political department of European center

The Political Department of the Center for European Studies was established in 2006, with three full-time staff, and the current director is Professor Chen Zhimin. The Political Department of the Center for European Studies and the Center for European Studies of Fudan University are brother units, which cooperate with other members of the Center to hold meetings and carry out research projects. At the same time, we have a certain degree of cooperation with the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of Fudan University, such as actively participating in some of its teaching work. The Department of Politics of the Center for European Studies mainly studies EU (Europe) political issues, including internal European political and social issues, EU diplomatic and security issues, and European political and cultural issues.

Nordic center

The Nordic Center was established in 1995. It is a cooperation platform jointly established by Fudan University, Nordic Asia Institute and 25 universities in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland. It is the link between China and Nordic scholars and students.

The activities of the Nordic Center mainly include: 1) organizing training, seminars and academic conferences for scholars from China and Northern Europe on topics of common interest; 2) To provide teaching for China scholars and students engaged in Nordic studies and Nordic scholars and students engaged in China studies; 3) Organize activities and courses for Nordic business groups in Shanghai.

Ms Krista VaLantora, President of Tampere University in Finland, is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors. Professor Chen, head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Fudan University, has been the executive director of the Nordic Center since its establishment.

China Center for Diplomatic Studies

China Center for Diplomatic Studies was established on June 4, 2007. The director of the center is Professor Ren Xiao, vice president of the Institute of International Studies. The center has 3 full-time researchers and 5 part-time researchers. China Diplomatic Research Center is mainly engaged in the theoretical and practical research of China's contemporary diplomacy. The main activities of the center include: hosting the project of "diplomats studying in graduate schools"; Participate in the "Ambassador Forum"; Invite relevant people at home and abroad to hold academic lectures; Organize academic conferences to promote academic exchanges. The Center has also published a series of papers on China's diplomatic studies.

International organization research center

The Research Center for United Nations and International Organizations was established on June 6, 2007. Ambassador Chen Jian, former UN Under-Secretary-General and President of united nations association of china, is the director of the center, and Professor Zhang Guihong is the executive director of the center.

The center's main research directions include international organizations and international security, United Nations peacekeeping operations and the relationship between the United Nations and China.

The center has Fudan United Nations Research Forum, where United Nations officials and scholars are invited to give speeches from time to time. The center recruits doctoral students and master students in the research direction of international organizations.

South Asia research center

South Asia Research Center was established in June 2007, with Professor Du Youkang as its director. The center has two full-time researchers, and invited many experts on South Asian issues inside and outside the university as invited researchers. The center's main research directions are: political, economic, diplomatic and security issues in South Asia after the end of the Cold War, American policy towards South Asia, and relations between China and South Asian countries.

Pakistan research center

Pakistan Research Center was established on June 5438+ 10, 2009. It is jointly organized by the Pakistani government and Fudan University and funded by the Pakistani government, aiming at promoting high-level academic exchanges and cooperation between China and Pakistan.

Office of Latin American Studies

The Latin American Research Office was established in February 1964, first in the Department of History, and then merged into the newly established Institute of International Studies in October12006. Full-time researchers 1 person, 5 part-time researchers, foreign visiting researchers 1 person. The current director is dr Zhu Hongbo. Main research interests: Latin American international relations, Latin American politics, Sino-Latin American relations, American-Latin American relations, Latin American modern history, etc. The Latin American Research Office has successively published 2 1 translations; 6 monographs; 7 dictionaries, yearbooks, etc.
