Historical evolution:
The school's predecessor was Shi Jing University Hall, which was founded in 1902. 1908 was renamed as Shi Jing Excellent Normal School, with independent organizational system. 19 12 was renamed Beijing Normal University. 1923, the school was renamed as Beijing Normal University, becoming the first normal university in the history of China. 193 1 year, 1952 Beiping Women's Normal University and Fu Jen Catholic University were successively merged into Beijing Normal University.
1959, identified by the central government as the first batch of national key universities. In 2002, it became one of the first six universities with the right to set up undergraduate majors independently. As of August 2022, the school consists of two campuses (including four campuses): Beijing Campus and Zhuhai Campus. There are 3 departments, 28 colleges, 2 departments, 4 colleges and 77 undergraduate majors.
There are 2540 full-time teachers in Beijing Campus, including 9832 full-time undergraduates, full-time graduate students 13409 and part-time graduate students171person. There are 2322 full-time graduate students and 876 part-time graduate students in Zhuhai Campus.
