The newly established Peking University Institute of Earth and Space Sciences has four undergraduate majors, eight master majors and seven doctoral majors, and two postdoctoral stations in geology and geophysics. College * * * has 35 professors (including 7 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and 5 from Changjiang distinguished professor); Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education 1 each, Basic Science Talent Training Base 1 each, Beijing Key Laboratory 1 each. It is an important base for the cultivation of geosciences talents in China, undertaking the heavy responsibility of transporting senior professionals in geology, geophysics, space science, remote sensing and geographic information system for the national modernization, and is an important force for Peking University to build a world-class university.
