Maintaining a long-term motivation and concentrating on everything should be easy to understand, but at the same time it is difficult to really do it. This problem is divided into two parts. First, how to maintain long-term motivation, and then concentrate on doing things well on the way forward. For the first question, the solution is to set a long-term goal, which can be a dream, an ideal, or even a little crazy ambition. In short, it's what you really want but can't get in a short time. However, the real difficulty actually lies in the latter problem, that is, how to focus on this road to achieve long-term goals, which is also a difficult problem that I have been trying to overcome myself. In this regard, there are also some insights that have not been experienced. Maybe it will be useful to put these ideas into practice:
1. Establish some small goals under the framework of long-term goals and turn them into implementation plans.
The desire to get is often the most exciting. When you disassemble a big goal, you will find that what you want can also be divided into several small parts, so you set goals to achieve them. But the goal is only a guide, and the plan can really pave the way, so you should be good at planning your daily life, study and work. According to the length of time span, the plan can be short-term, such as what to do at each time of the day; There can be a mid-term, such as what tasks to complete this semester and this year; It can also be long-term, such as what I want to study in the whole university, what I want to achieve, and what I want to do after graduation. As for the more detailed management by objectives, we need to follow a "smart principle", which was first put forward in Mr. Drucker's book Management Practice. You can read this book, and of course you can do it yourself.
Timely reflection
Hegel used Minerva's owl to take off at dusk as a metaphor for philosophy, in order to illustrate that philosophy is a reflective activity and a contemplative rationality. If "knowledge" and "thought" are compared to birds soaring in the blue sky with the rising sun, then the "reflective" owl quietly takes off when the thin curtain falls. This story is to point out the importance of reflection. Just as day and night are indispensable roles in the rotation of the sun and the moon, timely reflection is also an indispensable element in life. So when we do something and finish it, we often think about the way we do things, right? Do you stay focused? What effect has it achieved? Did you achieve your goal? What needs to be improved? Wait a minute. In-depth reflection, we will certainly find many problems with thinking value.
Step 3 compare in time
Although I don't encourage blindly comparing with others for the sake of competition, I still think it is necessary to observe others and compare myself. Especially those who have advantages that they don't have, you can learn a lot from them. More importantly, you should always remind yourself to work hard in this way, because the strong are still ahead and there is still a gap between you and them. The object of this comparison is not necessarily the people around you, but people who don't know but can show their own advantages and ways of doing things can be used for comparison. However, it should not be excessive. After all, it's just a way to tell yourself to stay focused and improve yourself. The ultimate goal is to achieve your own goals, not simply to surpass others.
4. Dare to fight for yourself and make yourself "miserable"
Why is a person distracted and lazy? Because of changing one's mind and being lazy in action, one often feels paralyzed in body and mind. On the contrary, it is often painful to concentrate and work hard, so the body and mind will unconsciously resist. So we should dare to struggle with ourselves and make ourselves "miserable". For example, academic papers have been put on hold for a long time, and we haven't started writing yet, and we don't want to conceive anything. At this time, we must force ourselves to engage in this painful thing. With the deepening of this matter, the original sense of pain will gradually disappear until it becomes normal.
Have the courage to put caution behind you.
Thinking too much is actually a time-consuming and easily distracted thing, because when we are doing a job, we always think about the significance of doing so repeatedly, and the energy originally used for doing things will be eroded by these redundant ideas. Therefore, when you make up your mind to do something, don't doubt its significance, have the courage to throw caution to the wind, and it is more important to persevere bravely than to know why. Even if you finally find that the result is still deviated from the original goal, at least you have achieved it, which is far better than a visionary who discusses theory all day.
At present, there are five ways to stay focused, in fact, in the final analysis, it is one sentence: be a doer, not a theorist; Be an ideal realist, not a sad idealist.
