Tang Xiaoyan, Academician of China Academy of Engineering, Professor Peking University, Adjunct Professor of Zhengzhou University. He is currently the co-chair of the Environmental Impact Assessment Panel on Ozone Depletion of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the vice-chairman of the China Environment Society.
Academician Tang Xiaoyan has made outstanding contributions to the establishment of environmental chemistry specialty in China and the creation and development of new fields of atmospheric environmental chemistry. A lot of pioneering and creative systematic work has been done in the frontier fields of environmental chemistry such as atmospheric ozone chemistry, photochemical smog and acid rain chemistry. On this basis, China's national program for phasing out ozone-depleting substances compiled by the director completed the industry plan, and China received a grant of US$ 365 million from the United Nations Multilateral Fund. In 2004, Academician Tang made a trip to Central Plains to inspect the current situation of economic development, environmental protection and environmental science research in Henan Province. Actively encourage and promote our school to set up an environmental science research institute to form a cross-integrated research platform, so as to promote the development of environmental science research in Henan Province faster, form environmental science research achievements with regional characteristics in Henan Province, and provide good environmental technical support for the sustainable development of social economy in Henan Province.
