On the morning of 20101.2, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized the construction acceptance meeting of the State Key Laboratory of Deep Geotechnical Mechanics and Underground Engineering of China University of Mining and Technology in the conference room of the State Key Laboratory of China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou). Wu Gen, deputy director of the Basic Research Management Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ming Ming, deputy director of the Basic Research Department of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education, and seven members of the acceptance expert group headed by researchers from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the acceptance meeting. President Ge, Miao Xiexing and Liu Jiongtian of China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou) and Vice President Jiang Yaodong of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) attended the acceptance meeting. The acceptance meeting was presided over by Wu Gen, deputy director of the Basic Research Management Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology. At the meeting, President Ge extended a warm welcome to the experts on behalf of the school, and combined with the history and development status of the school, emphasized the important role of the construction of the State Key Laboratory of Deep Geotechnical Mechanics and Underground Engineering in promoting the teaching, scientific research and personnel training of the school. He said that the school attaches great importance to the construction of key laboratories. Adhering to the national strategy of deep resource development and underground space utilization, the laboratory has carried out a series of research on scientific problems related to deep geological environment and geotechnical media and key technical problems in major underground engineering fields, and made remarkable progress. At the same time, he said that the construction and development of the laboratory can not be separated from the care and support of the higher authorities, and can not be separated from the guidance and help of experts. Wu Gen, deputy director of the Basic Research Management Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, introduced the relevant requirements for the construction and acceptance of the State Key Laboratory from four aspects: general requirements, construction acceptance contents, meeting procedures and matters needing attention. Miao Xiexing, vice president of the school and director of the State Key Laboratory of Deep Rock Mechanics and Underground Engineering, reported the laboratory construction to the expert group in detail from six aspects: basic laboratory information, research direction and progress, team building and personnel training, research platform construction, laboratory management and operation mechanism, and laboratory cooperation and exchange. Liu Jiongtian, vice president of our school, and Jiang Yaodong, vice president of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), respectively introduced the support, management and operation of the laboratory during the construction period on behalf of the supporting units of the laboratory. Vice President Liu Jiongtian of China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou) said that the school has always adhered to the principle of "key support, key guarantee and good service", attached great importance to the construction of the State Key Laboratory of Deep Rock Mechanics and Underground Engineering, and provided good conditions for the laboratory construction from the aspects of discipline construction, talent guarantee, funding and space conditions guarantee and operation guarantee, so as to promote the smooth operation of the laboratory. Vice President Jiang Yaodong of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) reported the construction of the laboratory, introduced the experimental system of each room in detail, and said that the school would fully support and focus on the construction of the laboratory.
Subsequently, the acceptance expert group held a discussion with the relevant personnel of the laboratory and inspected the construction of the laboratory on the spot. After investigation and discussion, the expert group agreed that the laboratory has accurate positioning, focused objectives and prominent key points, and has made important progress and breakthrough in related theoretical and technical research, solved some key technical problems in major projects, and produced remarkable economic and social benefits. An innovative and united academic team has been formed, an operation mode and an innovative mechanism with the academic team as the research unit have been established, and various management rules and regulations have been improved. A cultural atmosphere of "people-oriented, academic tolerance and standardization" was initially formed, the conditions and platform construction objectives were completed as planned, and the laboratory innovation ability was further enhanced. Relying units attach great importance to laboratory construction, and give strong support in discipline construction, fund investment, laboratory and operation mechanism. The laboratory successfully completed the construction task and achieved the expected construction goal. At the same time, the expert group suggested that the laboratory further strengthen the training of young academic leaders and further attract well-known overseas scholars to cooperate in laboratory research.
Ge, president of China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou), said that the school will listen carefully to the suggestions of the expert group, take this construction acceptance as a new starting point, lead the overall situation with innovation, further improve the management and operation mechanism, increase the introduction of talents, attract more outstanding talents at home and abroad, strengthen the construction of laboratory platform, and strive to achieve the goal of "adhering to scientific and sustainable development and leading the deep underground direction" as soon as possible.
Finally, Liang Mei, deputy director of the Basic Research Department of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education, and Li Taisheng, deputy director of the Scientific Research Institutions and Conditions Department of the Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Province, delivered speeches on behalf of the Ministry of Education and the Education Department of Jiangsu Province respectively. Liang Liang, deputy director, stressed that the school should attach importance to and guarantee the construction of the State Key Laboratory, make full use of the platform of the State Key Laboratory, and make due achievements in scientific and technological innovation, personnel training, and the construction of advantageous disciplines.
