Make-up exam is an exam held by each school unit for students who fail the exam or cannot take the exam for some reason. No matter how many subjects students fail in a school year, they need to take make-up exams. Students who fail to take the exam due to illness or other special reasons are allowed to make up the exam. Students who violate discipline in the examination may be allowed to make up the examination after criticism and education. Make-up exams are usually arranged within two weeks of the start of school. The scope, difficulty and grading standard of the test questions should be the same as that of the academic year exam.
Make-up exams are relative to college exams. If a student does not reach 60 points in the final exam of each semester in the university or the total score of a subject is lower than 60 points, then the student will fail the subject. For failing subjects, the school will arrange for those students who fail to have another chance to take the exam at the beginning of next semester, which is called "make-up exam". If the make-up exam is not enough, all the retakes will be arranged upon graduation.
