Northwestern Polytechnical University, referred to as "Xigong University" for short, is located in Xi City, Shaanxi Province, directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. 1938 the national Beiyang institute of technology, the national Peiping university institute of technology, the national northeastern university institute of technology and the private Jiaozuo institute of technology established the national northwest institute of technology in Hanzhong, Shaanxi; 1946 moved to Xianyang, and 1950 was renamed Northwest Institute of Technology; 1952, East China Aviation Institute was established in Nanjing by the Department of Aviation Engineering of Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Nanjing University; 1956 moved to Xi' an and changed its name to Xi' an Aviation Institute; 1957, Northwest Institute of Technology and Xi 'an Aviation Institute merged to form Northwestern Polytechnical University; 1970 Integration of the former Aviation Engineering Department of China People's Liberation Army Military Engineering College.
