Shandong University of Technology, referred to as "Shanda University of Technology" for short, is a university jointly established by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, Shandong Province and Zibo City. It is a multi-disciplinary university with science and engineering as the main subject, and has the qualification of postgraduate exemption. It is the first batch of project construction units to implement the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" in national universities, scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases in universities of the Ministry of Education, first-class disciplines in Shandong Province and famous universities with application-oriented talents training characteristics in Shandong Province. He has been selected as one of the first batch of national research and practice projects in "Innovative Experimental Zone of Talent Training Mode" and "New Engineering", and is a member of Eurasia-Pacific University Alliance and CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.

Shandong University of Technology was formed by the merger of Shandong Institute of Technology and Zibo College. 1956, Jinan Agricultural Mechanization School was established in Shandong Province; 1958, upgraded to Shandong Agricultural Mechanization College; 1990, renamed Shandong University of Technology. 65438-0998 Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry Branch, Zibo University, Zibo Normal University, Zibo Staff University, Zibo Radio and TV University and other universities were established as Zibo College. In 2002, Shandong Institute of Technology and Zibo College merged into Shandong University of Technology.
