Dalian University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and also a national "double first-class" "21/project" and "985 project" key construction university.

As of March 2022, the school has three campuses, namely Lingshui, Development Zone and Panjin, with a total area of 357 1.300 square meters and a construction area of about 1.885 million square meters. There are 20 independent departments in Lingshui main campus, 3 independent colleges in Development Zone campus, 3 independent colleges in Panjin campus and 3 professional colleges (innovative and international).
