Pittsburgh State University, as a comprehensive state university, has complete teaching facilities and beautiful environment, which is very suitable for students' study and life. The school was formerly an auxiliary manual training normal school under Emporia State Normal School, and was transformed into a four-year Kansas State Normal College in 19 13. During the period of Kansas State Teacher Training College, postgraduate courses and master's and expert's degrees in education were formally established.
From 65438 to 0959, Kansas State Teacher Training College was transformed into Pittsburgh Kansas State College with 2800 registered students. The school has more than 20 major buildings, including Hartman Building, Porter Building, MacLehall Building, Student Center, four student apartments and Brandenburg Sports Ground.
During the period of Pittsburgh College in Kansas State, the college continuously offered new undergraduate and postgraduate courses. From 65438 to 0966, the college and graduate department four undergraduate programs were merged into one; 1975, the college was expanded again, including Hughes Hall and Grabs Hall. Weede Physics Education Building and Cecil and Eva C Wilkinson Alumni Center. According to the statistics of 1976 autumn semester, the registered number of this school has increased to 5200.
On April 2 1977, Pittsburgh College of Kansas State was officially qualified as a comprehensive university, and Pittsburgh State University became its official name. After the school became a comprehensive university, in order to develop diversified education, the school continued to expand, and successively built McPherson Nursing Education Building (1977) and Leonard H. Axe Library (1979+0979). Heckett-Wellshall (1984), Kansas Technology Center (1997), Home and Consumer Science Building (2004), Taylor Polymer Research Center (2007), Student Recreation Center (2008) and Student Health Center (2009). Porter Building, once a library, has become the seat of the Art Department after interior decoration. ShrikHall is one of the early student apartments. It has also been transformed into an office and meeting place for business and technical colleges, and the school's public radio station (KRPS 89.9 FM) has also been set up here. Brandenburg Stadium and Carnesmith Stadium were rebuilt and expanded in 1989, 200 1 and 2006 respectively. Kansas Science and Technology Center is the largest construction project of the school so far, with a cost of more than $30 million.

All school education has been certified by AACSB and ABET.
